FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Hypnotherapy:

What does Hypnosis feel like?

Scientific research has shown that hypnosis is different from sleep. In hypnosis the person is mentally alert but physically relaxed - their senses functioning more efficiently than normal. It is a completely natural phenomena - in fact we all encounter the state in our everyday lives.Have you ever found yourself being so absorbed in a good book that you forget where you are, and yet you are alert to things going on around you, for example the phone ringing! Drifting off into a daydream is completely natural. In hypnosis you are shifting your awareness away from everyday things around you to concentrate on the unconscious part of your mind. You are always in control and you will only perform things that go along with your personal beliefs and morals. So your therapists will use her voice to help you achieve this natural state for the special purpose of therapy. The skill of your therapist then comes into play in guiding you to find the solution to your problems.

Will I remember everything?

You will recall the contents of every session.

Will I be in control?

Yes. Your Therapist cannot make you do anything you don’t want to do. You will be able to talk, think, feel, and tell your therapist if you need the loo. Don’t forget you can never go back and relive your life.

Will I be able to drive and go to work afterwards?

Yes. The state of Hypnosis has been shown to boost your immune system, focus your mind and you’ll probably feel like you’ve had a deep and relaxing sleep afterwards. Although you are not asleep or wide awake in Hypnosis, it is somewhere in between the two. You are in control.
