What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural, safe tool used in therapy. It is a state of mind that is different from sleep. In hypnosis you will be mentally alert but physically relaxed – your senses may function more efficiently than normal. It is a completely natural phenomenon which we all encounter in our everyday lives.

Have you ever found yourself being so absorbed in a good book that you forget where you are? At the same time you are alert to what is going on around you, for example if the phone rings!

Drifting off into a daydream is completely natural. At times like this we come up with great new ideas or solve a problem we have had for a long time.

In hypnosis you are shifting your awareness away from everyday things to concentrate on the unconscious part of your mind. Your therapist will answer any questions you have on how this will feel during your first session.

You are always in control. Your therapist will guide you, whilst in this relaxed state of mind, to find the solution to your problems.
